We Live and Work in the Communities We Serve

We provide health coverage for one in four residents of Santa Barbara County, and one in five residents of San Luis Obispo County, making us the largest insurer in the area. CenCal Health partners with many local community-based organizations and non-profit agencies to better serve our membership, and coordinate care. We have been in the community for over 35 years and we are proud to be innovative in our approach of working together to find local solutions to national healthcare problems.

It’s our mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve, for both members and non-members.

In addition to serving our members, we work with over 1,500 physicians, hospitals and other providers. We contribute support to our communities by providing educational information, outreach and resources at health fairs, and sponsor events held by other community-based and not-for-profit organizations in order to further their work in our members’ communities. Our staff and executives participate on community boards, councils, collaboratives and committees, representing issues on access to healthcare, children and Senior issues, behavioral health, Latino health, individuals with developmental disabilities, homelessness and more.

Our communities are able to stay informed about CenCal Health, our current health initiatives, our governance, and other important issues through our annual Community Report, quarterly e-newsletter (Communité News), press releases and community meetings such as the Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County Care Coordination Coalition meetings.

We participate in over 250 community activities, meetings and events each year.

We believe in what we do because we do it for our neighbors.
